Betty Lou Maitland, 67, of Marengo, a retired high school teacher, died Tuesday at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. A 1951 graduate of Illinois State University, Normal, She taught for three years at Hinckley-Big Rock High School in Hinckley in DeKalb County before going to Marengo Community High School, where she taught from 1955 until her retirement in 1990. She also worked as a part-time accountant for Benoy Motor Sales in Woodstock for 20 years, and she was a member of the Marengo Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her mother, Mildred. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo.
