Gregory Robinson Hannett, 45, an investigator with the Apprehension Unit of the Illinois Department of Corrections, died Wednesday in the hospice unit of St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. A resident of Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, he grew up in the Woodlawn area. For the past 20 years he has worked for the state of Illinois, having started as a parole officer. Survivors include a son, Marc; two daughters, Sara and Victoria; his mother, Katherine; his fiance; and a brother. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, with services at 2 p.m., in Cage Memorial Chapel, 7651 S. Jeffery Blvd., Chicago.
