George Murphy, 91, who worked 37 years as a Chicago police detective, died Saturday at Holy Family Health Center in Des Plaines. Mr. Murphy, a Des Plaines resident, previously lived in Chicago and Mt. Prospect. Survivors include two sons, Thomas and Terry; two sisters; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Zachary Catholic Church, 567 W. Algonquin Rd., Des Plaines.
