Residents will have to sign a waiver to use the library’s computer terminal to access the Internet, library officials have announced.
Internet users must be aware of the liability they assume when they sign on, said Dianne Lueder, library director.
“The (federal) Decency Act, which is a part of the Telecommunications Act, states that there are criminal penalties that can be assessed to providers if indecent material is presented to children under the age of 18,” Lueder said.
“Parents must know that the access and usage of the Internet will be their responsibility,” she said.
