Edward F. McKee, finance director for the city since 1991, resigned from his position effective Tuesday.

McKee will become the finance director and clerk for Winnetka.

“I think the gain of Winnetka is Rolling Meadows’ loss,” said Mayor Thomas Menzel, who honored McKee for his five years of service at a recent council meeting.

Although the council previously hired recruiting firms to find replacement for key staff spots, it has asked City Manager William Barlow to conduct interviews for the position.

Barlow hopes to find a replacement by Aug. 1, which would give the new finance director a couple months to prepare for next fall’s budget season.

The council also approved an agreement with the Palatine Rural Fire Protection District to have the city’s fire department on first call in the area bonded by Euclid Avenue and Algonquin, Frontage and Plum Grove Roads.
