A woman who early Monday allegedly led police on a brief car chase, which ended when she allegedly struck a car and then a porch in the 0-99 block of Leonard Street, was arrested on a drunken driving charge, authorities said. Linda A. Martin, 40, of 605 W. Highland Ave., Elgin, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving and several other traffic offenses, police said. Patrol officers pulled Martin over because she allegedly was driving erratically, police said. When officers walked up to her vehicle, Martin allegedly put it in gear and drove away, police said. Officers eventually caught up with Martin’s car about the time she allegedly collided with the other car and the house, police said. Martin was treated at Sherman Hospital for a minor injury and released to police, authorities said.
