I’m writing about the Holocaust because April 16 was a Jewish holiday of remembrance. Many people don’t believe that there even was a Holocaust. And it’s really painful to hear that for people who saw it with their own eyes. My grandma and grandpa are survivors and for their sake, and the sakeof other survivors and the people who died, I decided to research (the Holocaust). Soon I’ll make an album with copies of photos from the Holocaust. I hope this album will be passed down to many generations so people won’t forget that it happened.

Visually challenged?

In response to the article about ghosts (April 9 Tough News): Ghosts are real. They are not merely, as your story suggests, “tricks of the mind” or “psychic impressions resulting from traumatic events.”

I’m sure I sound crazy. I don’t care. To me, ghosts are not just shrouded figures that appear on “The X-Files.” They are real people who once led normal lives like mine. I know this letter will cause many to shake their heads in disbelief, but I have seen many things that cannot be explained rationally. Ghosts are to be feared no more than live people are to be feared.

About people seeing ghosts, I think it’s dumb. People sometimes see or hear things. They don’t know what they saw or heard so they claim it was a ghost and then some people believe them. Also, those pictures, I think they are just clever tricks like UFO pictures.

Out of this world

“Space: Above and Beyond” had its season finale (April 20) at 8 p.m., which is absolutely one of the worst hours for a show to be on. The TV Guide has reported that a second season hangs on a thread. Hopefully, Fox will let the show reappear next year. After all, even though the Deimos airbase and Ixion have been won by Earth forces, Operation Roundhammer has yet to be completed. The A. I.’s are still around to cause havoc, and I have an idea that the Chigs aren’t done for yet!

God in our roots

In response to Erick S. (April 9 Backtalk), I think all Americans need to remember who founded America. Many early European immigrants were Christians, which is why our currency says, “In God We Trust.” Our founders believed and trusted in God. True, there should be religious freedom. Actually, it is the only way because God is not a dictator; he wants people to be able to choose whether or not to love and obey him. Having God’s name on our money is not violating this freedom; it is simply honoring the one whom our founders were guided by.

Church vs. state

I agree that many things in this country point to specific religions and not to others. This country has many people living in it with different religions. The 1st Amendment in the Constitution says things about freedom of religion. The U.S. government should not praise or enhance the advertisement of any religion. It could eventually cause a war between people in our country. I don’t think anyone wants that. The government should show equality between religions.

No stopping Rex

In response to the article “Watch the Wrecks, Rex” (April 9 Cover), I think that what the scientists are saying is true. But I don’t think there (were) that many things to trip over when he was running or chasing prey. T-Rex was pretty heavy and if a big tree (was in its path) he would probably have gone right through it.
