New settlement in drug pricing: Retail pharmacies are once again close to settling their price-fixing lawsuit against the nation’s biggest drug manufacturers. At issue is a drug-industry pricing practice that pharmacies say unfairly excludes them from discounts given to HMOs, hospitals and pharmaceutical mail-order houses. A proposed $408.9 million settlement in the case was rejected last month by a federal judge, who said he was bothered that it did nothing to address future pricing practices.
