Aloysius Edward Piechota, 82, a retired member of the Chicago Police Department and a onetime major league baseball pitcher, died Thursday in Methodist Hospital. Mr. Piechota was a longtime resident of the North Austin neighborhood. He played in 21 games for the Boston Braves in 1939 and one inning in 1940. His record with the Braves was 2-5. He also pitched for the Police Department team. Mr. Piechota was on the force for about 25 years. Survivors include two sisters and a brother. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday in Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Juliana Catholic Church, 7200 N. Osceola Ave., Chicago.
