Aldermen are expected to approve a wage agreement Wednesday between the city and a coalition of 38 trade unions.
The contract, which covers 9,600 city workers, will provide wages based on the wages in the private industry. Those not covered by the prevailing-wage payments will see their pay rise 10.75 percent over four years.
The contract is retroactive to June 30, 1995, when the contract expired.
