Police charged Adonis L. Franklin, 21, with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver Friday after he aroused suspicion by refusing to pull over for a traffic stop, according to police reports. Franklin fled in his car and then on foot when police tried to pull him over for having an obstructed windshield, according to police reports. Franklin parked his car at his home at 2412 Gilead Ave. and ran, according to the reports. While running, Franklin stopped in the 2400 block of Gilboa Avenue to hide a plastic bag in some bushes but was seen by a resident who retrieved the bag and turned it over to police, according to police reports. The bag contained 2.5 grams of marijuana and 7.2 grams of cocaine, according to police. Franklin was caught in the 2200 block of 24th Street and was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, obstructing justice and four moving violations. He also was wanted on a Lake County warrant accusing him of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
