What goes up must come down. That fact came to my mind in April when I paid more money in 1995 taxes than the total cost of my first house–a three-bedroom ranch style on one acre of land. We splurged when we opted for a corner lot in the housing development. so a 30-year mortage was a must to handle the payments.
That was in the 1960s. Today, earning average household income, we must pay our income taxes, which amount to more than the cost of our first house, in just one year, not 30. What went up should now come down. Welcome, Bob Dole!
