Gillette gets big charge from Duracell: Shaving products company Gillette made a big leap into the wider consumer products market on Thursday, announcing that it was acquiring battery-maker Duracell International for about $7 billion in stock. Gillette said it will issue about 108 million shares in the stock transaction. The announcement said that Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts Co., L.P., which owns about 34 percent of Duracell’s outstanding shares, agreed to vote in favor of the merger.
