My street in Logan Square is within a block of two major bus routes and the O’Hare “El.” Before converting to permit-parking, commuters from miles around rejected the notion that they should pay to park their cars in the city parking lot only a block away and would jam the streets with their cars and wouldn’t remove them until returning from work late in the day. Permit-parking served to stop this obvious abuse.

Also, your Sept. 11 editorial did not mention that visitors can park on permit-only streets by getting a one-day sticker for 5 cents from a business or a resident in the restricted area. (City Hall sells books of 20 stickers for $1.)
