An Aptakisic School District program that connects pupils with local businesses has been chosen to receive a statewide award next month, according to an announcement made at Thursday night’s Board of Education meeting.
The District Partners for World-Class Business and Education was named an exemplary partnership by the Illinois State Council on Business-Education Partnerships. For that, the district will he honored at a award dinner Jan. 6. at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago.
“Being recognized as we are is really neat,” said Supt. Douglas Parks. “We’re delighted.”
The 2-year-old program has brought local professionals into the classrooms to talk about their jobs and recently led to the formation of a pupil corporation in which pupils baked and sold pizza during a lunch hour.
