The Homer Township Board has delayed action on a proposal to build a drive-through bank on 159th Street near Will-Cook Road because neighbors are opposed to having customers enter the facility from Twin Lakes Drive.

The proposed bank, a Standard Federal Bank for Savings facility, is proposed for a 5-acre site next to the Twin Lakes subdivision. The developer is seeking entry to the bank from 159th Street and from Twin Lakes Drive.

About 50 neighbors who attended a meeting Monday said such an entry from their subdivision’s primary road would be dangerous for children.

The developer agreed to seek approval from the state Department of Transportation for another plan, such as having two entrances-exits on 159th Street.
