The Chinese New Year is Friday, and the annual Chinatown parade Feb. 9. This is the Year of the Ox, which portends a good harvest for Chinese who use the animal to plow fields.
The parade will feature floats and bands. The area known as New Chinatown also will have a mini-parade at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Argyle Street and Broadway.
The Chinatown parade begins at 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at Cermak Road and Wentworth Avenue.
