The 20-year-old son of Kildeer’s police chief was charged early Feb. 6 with driving while intoxicated, improper lane usage and driving 70 m.p.h. in a 40 m.p.h. zone, police said. Police alleged Matthew Jay Mills, 20, of 987 Harvard Lane was weaving and speeding in a 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier eastbound on Dundee Road at Buffalo Grove Road when they stopped him about 6 a.m. Police said Mills staggered when he left the car and later registered a 0.176 blood-alcohol reading, more than the state legal limit of 0.10.
