The new rap song “No Diggity,” by Blackstreet, is being played to psychotic excess on WBBM-FM (B96). The station admits to spinning the song 66 times per week, but I’ve heard it aired as often as twice an hour.
On the other hand, WNIB-FM did play Puccini’s Love Duet from “Madama Butterfly” twice on Valentine’s Day. And also in February, it played Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks (Overture and “La rejouissance”), Vivaldi’s Flute Concerto in F, Op. 10 No.1, RV433, and Pachelbel’s Canto in D an unconscionable two times each within the same month.
