Area residents will be given a discounted ticket price for the Storytelling Festival, according to village Trustee Florence Vanderheyden.

Inclement weather and a rise in ticket prices to $15 from $10 for the last two years has kept attendance at about half of previous years, said Art Peterson, of the Storytelling Festival Committee.

Peterson said the festival is running at a $19,000 deficit, so the committee hopes that by lowering ticket prices back to $10 for non-village residents and $6 for residents, attendance will return to the 1994 number of 8,700 or better.

The village also has agreed to waive a 50-cent per ticket fee to help the festival raise money.

The festival will be held this year on July 26 and 27 at Horse Fair Park on Main Street in Spring Grove.

The Storytelling Festival Committee will pay a $300 per day fee, as well as a $300 deposit to Spring Grove to reserve the municipal park.

Police coverage will remain the same, and the festival committee will be responsible for removing and replacing fencing throughout the park, organizers said.
