A 64-year-old man being evicted from his home was being sought Friday by DuPage County sheriff’s detectives in connection with a fire that severely damaged the house, police said.
Sheriff’s officials said they are looking for James Pihera, who lived at 1 S 205 Valley Rd., near Lombard.
Firefighters reported smelling gasoline fumes when they were called to the house at about 7:55 a.m. Thursday.
Sheriff’s investigators said Friday that gasoline containers attached to timers and heat guns were found in the single-family house near Interstate Highway 355.
As firefighters worked to stop the blaze, a sheriff’s deputy arrived to serve the tenant eviction papers, said one of the firefighters.
