Barat College in Lake Forest recently won approval from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools to offer a master’s degree in education program.
The approval makes Barat College the first and only full-service college or university in Lake County to offer such a program, school officials say. It will be offered to degree and non-degree seeking graduate students in the fall.
The master of arts in education is designed for elementary, secondary and special education teachers with certification.
The master of arts in education with certification will be offered to students with a bachelor’s degree who wish to obtain a secondary certification in biology, dance, English, mathematics or social science.
