Katherine E. Vilven, 68, a retired speech therapist in the Oak Park public schools, died Friday in West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park. She was a resident of Forest Park. Mrs. Vilven, a graduate of Rockford College, earned a master’s degree in speech therapy from Northwestern University. She was past president of the Oak Park Teachers Association. Mrs. Vilven was a member of the Cook County Court Watchers and a volunteer at West Suburban Hospital. Survivors include a sister, Mary Ascher. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Christ Episcopal Church, 515 Franklin Ave., River Forest.
