Brian E. O’Malley, 53, a retired Rolling Meadows police sergeant, died of a heart condition at home in that suburb Saturday. He had been on the force since 1969 and was a graduate of Northwestern’s University’s School of Police Staff and of the Criminal Justice Management Center at Aurora University. Sgt. O’Malley previously spent two years with the Crystal Lake Police Department. He retired two weeks ago and was looking forward to moving to McHenry. “He was reserved and pretty quiet,” said his son, Patrick. “My father had a great sense of humor. He was creative with it. He was really committed to being a professional police officer.” Other survivors include a daughter, Colleen; two sisters; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows. Services will be held there at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
