USFreightways Corp. reported first-quarter profits more than doubled, to $9.7 million, or 40 cents a share, from $4.3 million, or 20 cents a share, in the year-earlier period.
The Rosemont-based trucking firm, which operates five regional less-than-truckload operations across the U.S., said revenues in the quarter climbed 13 percent, to $355.8 million from $313.7 million.
