Matthew Ryan, 13, of Western Springs, was fatally injured by a car Wednesday as he walked on Wolf Road, near 31st Street in unincorporated Lyons Township. Matthew was a student at McClure Junior High School and according to his father, Kevin, “was a kid with a lot of integrity who was truly liked by everyone.” He was an honor roll student, a member of the student council and was on the football, soccer, wrestling, hockey and volleyball teams. Survivors, besides his father, include his mother, Sarah; a younger brother, Sean; grandparents Kevin and Maureen Ryan; and his great-grandfather, John Steed. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 4920 Caroline Ave., Western Springs.
