The 11-acre equestrian estate in Barrington Hills that was used as Babe Ruth’s home in the 1992 film, “The Babe,” starring John Goodman, is one of three large residences to be auctioned off May 3 at the Westin Hotel O’Hare, 6100 River Rd., Rosemont.
The property at 777 Plum Grove Rd. includes a four-bedroom, 3 1/2-bath residence with two fireplaces, a log cabin guest house, an eight-stall barn, paddock, pastures, riding arena and trails.
Originally priced at $1.05 million, the suggested opening bid is $350,000. Open houses will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday and April 27, and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 23 and May 1.
The auction will be staged by Rick Levin & Associates, a Chicago-based real estate auction marketing firm.

– The 4,600-square-foot executive mansion previously owned by Charles Lubin, founder of the Kitchens of Sara Lee, at 2780 Ridge Rd., Highland Park. Set on 1 3/4 wooded acres, it has four bedrooms, three full baths, two half baths and two fireplaces. Originally priced at $899,000, it has a suggested opening bid of $325,000. Open houses will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday and April 27, and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 24 and April 30.
– A two-story, four-bedroom brick colonial at 912 Julian Ct., Naperville. Amenities include four bedrooms, four baths, foyer with oak staircase, sunken family room, three marble fireplaces, three-car garage and circular driveway. Originally priced at $1.1 million, the suggested opening bid is $375,000. Open houses are scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday and April 27, and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 23 and May 1.
