Machine tool orders jump: U.S. orders for machine tools jumped 9.3 percent in March from February, an industry survey said. Orders from U.S. companies for domestic and foreign-produced machine tools rose to an estimated $721 million in March from a revised $659 million in February, according to a joint report from the Association for Manufacturing Technology and the American Machine Tool Distributor’s Association. The increase was the third rise in estimated orders in the last four months.
