In Douglas W. Kmiec’s column headlined “Gays need the helping hand of counseling” (Op-Ed, May 5), he states that Ellen DeGeneres “is very likely an unsuitable coach for the girls’ swim team.”
Why? To have Ellen as a girls’ swim coach would be no more inappropriate than having a heterosexual woman as leader of a pack of Cub Scouts. Unless, of course, you equate pederasty and homosexuality. But the fact is that most acts of pederasty are between heterosexual adults and children–not homosexual adults and children. Kmiec’s views toward gays are yet more examples of the kind of bigoted opinions that need to be stamped out.
