Also celebrating the longest day, and the day after it as well, will be the folks at Morton Arboretum, which is marking its 75th anniversary with a Summer Solstice weekend.
Special events begin at 7 a.m. Saturday with a bike ride and stroll through the arboretum.
During the course of the day, and on Sunday as well, there will be bird-watching lectures, tram tours, treasure hunts, story-telling sessions and crafts activities, along with a special stargazing presentation Saturday.
Some events, including the early morning bike ride, require advance registration; call 630-719-2465.
Summer Solstice events are free, but there is a weekend gate charge of $7 per car for non-members of the arboretum.
