Birthday: Sometime about 200 million years ago. I lost my birth certificate. It was written on a rock.
Birthplace: In the imagination.
Current home: In the imagination.
Real name: Barney.
Occupation: I’m a professional friend.
Children: All the children are my children.
Working on: I’m in the middle of a two-year world tour, “Barney’s Big Surprise.” That takes me through the end of 1998. Then I’ve got a movie out this summer, a new two-pack video and my own show on PBS. I’m live and in purple.
Favorite pigout food: I really like healthy snacks, like carrots, celery and rutabaga. And, of course, peanut butter sandwiches. They’re fun to make, too.
Favorite childhood memory: Being a little dinosaur and meeting Baby Bop and BJ. We’re the only dinosaurs around now.
Prized possession: My friends. I wouldn’t have as much fun and get to do so many things without them.
People always think I’m: I’m so big and purple, it’s hard to confuse me with anyone else.
I’ve never been able to: Sit in a chair, because of my tail.
I’m better than anyone else when it comes to: I’m a pretty good dancer.
The worst advice my mother ever gave me: I don’t really remember my mother. It was so long ago.
My most irrational act: I was building something with a jackhammer once and I just went crazy and got all shook up. I don’t think I’d ever do that again.
My fantasy is: I’m an astronaut and I’m flying around up in space in a spaceship. It would have to be a very big spaceship for me to fit inside.
Most humbling experience: Visiting my friends in hospitals. I can help them feel better, and that makes me feel like a good dinosaur.
The one thing everyone’s tried but me: Ice-skating. I’d like to, but they don’t make ice skates big enough for me.
The three words that best describe me: I love you.
