Just when you thought DuPage County was up to its elbows in pasta, another Italian eatery has arrived to tempt your taste buds.

Brothers Anthony and Domenick Lo Casio brought years of experience to Ogden Avenue’s restaurant row in Westmont last December when they opened Lo Casio’s in an extensively remodeled building that once housed a Mr. Steak.

“Domenick and I learned the business the old-fashioned way, from the ground up,” Anthony said. “By the time we were 10 or 11 years old, we were washing dishes in our grandmother’s restaurant in Cicero. It’s a family sort of thing, and that’s the way we want to treat our customers, like family.”

Paneled walls, a colorful mural depicting the Italian countryside, framed prints, soft music and tables dressed with crisp white tablecloths and burgundy-colored napkins create a restful, inviting atmosphere.

On the luncheon menu, choices range from minestrone ($2) to chicken salad with pineapple and a fresh fruit garnish ($6.50) to sandwiches served with fries or pasta ($4 to $11) and a 12-inch, thin-crust pizza with two toppings ($8).

The dinner menu includes seven veal and six poultry entrees, as well as steak, fish and pasta.

“One of our most popular dishes is sea bass with a potato crust ($18),” Anthony said. Others are chicken primavera, which is boned chicken breast stuffed with spinach, peppers, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes ($12), and farfalle di bisteca, a combination of steak, bow-tie pasta, kalamata olives and Roman tomatoes ($13.50). Entrees are served with a vegetable, a starch and crusty fresh bread.
