The bikini is coming to the Miss America pageant. In September, contestants in the nation’s biggest beauty contest, for the first time in the pageant’s 77-year history, will have the option of trading in their traditional one-piece bathing suits for bikinis, pageant officials said Monday.
In revamping the annual event, officials for the first time also will have a yet-to-be-named professional journalist interview each of the five finalists live as part of the selection process. The contest will be broadcast Sept. 13.
