CNN moved to energize its sagging flagship Tuesday by hiring veteran ABC executive Rick Kaplan as president and declaring itself in the market for a big-name anchor for its evening newscast. Kaplan had been producing special projects for ABC. He’s been executive producer for the “Nightline” and “PrimeTime Live” programs.
