Sol Levy, 78, a longtime teacher and psychologist with the Chicago Board of Education, died Saturday at St. Francis Extended Care in Evanston. A Chicago native, Mr. Levy taught 8th grade for 10 years at Funston Frederick Elementary School. He later became a school psychologist and worked for 25 years with various elementary and high schools. A World War II veteran, Mr. Levy served in the 216th Malaria Survey Unit, where he, among other assignments, scouted for mosquitoes and helped soldiers in the South Pacific. A connoisseur of classical music, Mr. Levy played the piano, recorder, clarinet and bassoon. Survivors include his wife, Florence; a daughter, Sharon Levy; a son, David Levy; and a brother. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Piser Original Weinstein Chapel, 3019 W. Peterson Ave., Chicago.
