A proposed playground in Holiday Hills was the sole project discussed Thursday night at a hearing of the McHenry County Community Block Grant Commission.
The hearing, convened in Harvard to get input from county residents on how the commission should spend money it receives from the federal government to benefit low and moderate-income residents was attended by only three people.
Those attending were Carl and Judy Schueler of Holiday Hills, and Harvard Mayor Ralph Henning.
The Schuelers asked John Labaj, a deputy director of the county’s Planning and Development Department, whether the playground project would be eligible for a grant. The proposed site is on Sunset Drive behind the Village Hall.
The Holiday Hills Neighborhood Watch program has tried to raise money for playground equipment to be placed on a lot that was donated by the village, Judy Schueler said.
Two other hearings to take input for the commission are scheduled for Aug. 14 in Woodstock and Aug. 21 in Algonquin.
