Mathias Herriges, 65, an Army veteran and an IBM employee for more than 30 years, died Aug. 1 in his Des Plaines home. Mr. Herriges was in the Army during the 1950s. He returned to the Chicago area to begin work with IBM, said his son, Leonard. Mr. Herriges was a manager for IBM and retired in 1991 after 34 years with the company, the son said. Mr. Herriges is also survived by his wife, Carolyn; three other sons, Andrew, Daniel and Michael; two daughters, Elizabeth Jay and Laura Lower; and 12 grandchildren. Mass was saidTuesday in Mt. Prospect.
