A van packed with college cheerleaders blew a tire at 90 m.p.h. and flipped over Sunday, killing the coach and a cheerleader and injuring 11 other people.
Male and female cheerleaders from State University of West Georgia were traveling to a cheerleading camp in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The van turned over on Interstate Highway 20 near Crawfordville, 85 miles east of Atlanta, said Georgia State Patrol Trooper Charles Ardister.
Another officer, Patrol Sgt. David Cody, said the van was going faster than 90 m.p.h
The coach, Stephanie Suzanne Shaw, 27, who was driving the van, and Deandre Hamilton, 20, were killed.
Two of the injured cheerleaders were listed in critical condition at a local hospital.
