Gust W. Anderson, a longtime resident of the North Shore, died Saturday in Evanston Hospital, one day shy of his 103rd birthday. He was born in Sweden but lived most of his life on the North Shore, in Evanston and Wilmette. Mr. Anderson was a master carpenter and stair builder, having worked on homes throughout the North Shore. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Evanston since the mid-1920s and a member of the Independent Order of Vikings. He is survived by three daughters, Elaine Nelson, Alice Carmichael and Donna Miller; a brother; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday in Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 1460 Sherman Ave., Evanston. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
