Just about everything is traditional about the 20th Annual Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival–except the location.

Because of construction at Island Park, the festival’s longtime home, this year’s rain-or-shine celebration will be held Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 on the grounds of the Kane County Government Center, Illinois Highway 31 and 3rd Street in downtown Geneva. The fest will return to Island Park in 1998.

The new site is a few hundred yards south of Island Park on the west side of the Fox River; parking will be available in Metra lots .

The event will include music, an old-fashioned barn dance, an evening ghost story session, impromptu jam sessions, workshops, children’s activities and an arts and crafts sales area.

The suggested admission donation is $10 per day for adults and $8 per day for teens and seniors, with children younger than 12 admitted free.
