Harry James Christensen, 99, a former village trustee and mayor of Hinckley, died Saturday in his home in Hinckley. Mr. Christensen attended schools in Chicago and Libertyville. In 1931, he opened his own business, the Hinckley Garage and Machine Shop, from which he also sold Buick automobiles. He retired from his machine shop in 1995. He also was a volunteer with the local fire district until four years ago. Mr. Christensen was a village trustee in 1935 and was mayor from 1942-63. He also served for many years on both the Hinckley elementary and high school boards, ending those years of service in 1952. He also owned and operated the Hinckley School Bus Line until 1966. Survivors include three daughters, Arline, Dixson, Marilyn Caliendo and Virginia Johnson; 10 grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St., Hinckley.
