Police on Monday arrested an 18-year-old Aurora man and charged him in last Wednesday’s slaying of Antonio D. Tennial and the shooting of Tennial’s passenger.

Tyree O. Pryor, of the 900 block of East Benton Street, was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, not having a firearm owner’s identification card and aggravated battery. He was being held Tuesday in the police lockup and was scheduled for a Wednesday bond hearing.

Police credited witnesses “for helping bring this case to a quick resolution.” They declined to elaborate on the evidence against Pryor.

Tennial, 18, of Aurora, died last Wednesday after being shot in the head and chest while driving his car north on Ohio Street near New York Street. Tennial’s passenger, Michael D. Judon, 22, also of Aurora, was treated at Rush-Copley Medical Center for a gunshot wound in the arm and released.

Witnesses told police that occupants of another car that pulled alongside Tennial’s flashed gang signs before one of the occupants fired shots at Tennial and Judon. The two cars ultimately crashed and struck a third car.

Three men then fled and police impounded the car used by the shooters.
