Navistar International Corp. reported that fiscal third-quarter earnings more than doubled, to $35 million, or 38 cents a share, from $17 million, or 13 cents a share, in the year-earlier period.
Revenues for the quarter ended July 31 were $1.53 billion, up 15 percent from $1.33 billion a year earlier.
For the first nine months of the fiscal year, the Chicago-based truck and engine manufacturer reported net income of $80 million, or 80 cents a share, up 23 percent from $65 million, or 59 cents, in the year-earlier period.
Revenues for the nine months were $4.26 billion, up more than 3 percent from $4.11 billion a year earlier.
Navistar said worldwide shipments were up significantly, and production will rise in the fourth quarter.
