Police handed out fliers throughout neighborhoods south of Roosevelt Road on Friday hoping to identify a youth who allegedly attacked a woman while she was retrieving her mail Thursday morning.

“The woman was grabbed as she entered a small office in her home,” said Police Chief Leon Kutzke.

Kutzke said the assailant displayed a knife. He ran from the house in a subdivision near Pinebrook Drive and Aspen Lane when confronted by a male resident, police said.

Kutzke said detectives are working on several tips and believe the suspect is the same person responsible for four similar incidents, three of which happened in October 1996 and one in June. Police said a sexual assault was committed during one of the attacks.

The suspect is described as being about 16, black with light to medium complexion, thin and about 5 feet 5 inches tall. Police are asking anybody with information to call 630-620-5955.
