Am I the only registered voter whose intelligence is insulted by the Glenn Poshard campaign for governor?

As someone who believes Illinois’ record on campaign finance reform is disgraceful, I was initially impressed by Poshard’s “no PAC money” stance and recent appearance on “Chicago Tonight” (WTTW-Ch. 11). Now, after reading the Aug. 7 Tribune article (Metro) in which it was revealed his campaign may have indeed accepted PAC contributions, I have to wonder how ignorant he thinks the voters of Illinois are to have left this information in the public record.

I also wonder how Poshard plans to successfully finance a gubernatorial campaign if he eschews all PAC money. Maybe in trying to reach that moral high ground he missed the larger point that not all PAC contributions are bad.

There are more than seven months remaining in this primary election campaign, and Poshard has already given voters a reason to be cynical. But it is not cynicism but simple common sense when I say I do not want someone with unstable convictions representing the interests of my home state.
