Margaret E. Gart, 86, a former nurse for the Chicago Tribune, died in her home in Shrewsbury, N.J., Monday. Mrs. Gart was born in Sioux Falls, S.D. She attended Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls and received her nursing degree from Northwestern University. During World War II, Mrs. Gart served as a nurse in the U.S. Army in Africa, Italy and France. She attained the rank of major and was awarded several commendations for her service. She received two Battle Stars and one Bronze Star for her work coordinating nursing activities in Southern France. For 13 years she worked in the medical division of the Tribune’s Human Resource Department, retiring as a nursing supervisor in 1960. She had lived in Shrewsbury for the past 12 years. Survivors include a stepson, Richard Gart; and a stepdaughter, Jacqueline Reusch. Memorial services will be held Wednesday in Red Bank, N.J.
