At back-to-back meetings Monday night, the Hebron Zoning Board of Appeals and the Village Board both unanimously agreed to annex and rezone a 5-acre parcel along Price Road for a village park.
The village was first approached by the Kerry Corp. about the land donation in December, and the village obtained ownership of the plot in June. The land was donated with a stipulation that it be used as a well site and park, said Hebron Village Atty. Kelly Cahill.
The fifth village well will be built on the site, according to Trustee Jim Kastner.
The well house will be a pump station that will feed the tower at Illinois Highways 173 and 47 and should double the village’s pumped water capacity to 1,000 gallons per minute, according to Village President Frank Beatty. Bids are expected in November, and construction is slated to begin in April. Village officials also plan to renovate a Greek revival home, built in the mid-1800s and located on the property.
