While there seems to be no end to the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, I have not heard one mention of a great entertainer who died at almost the same time. Julius Henry “Groucho” Marx died on Aug. 19, 1977 (just four days after the king).
Groucho, along with his brothers Chico and Harpo, helped keep America laughing with their wonderful films during the depression years of the 1930s. Groucho went on to television fame with his hysterical quiz show “You Bet Your Life” in the 1950s. This all-time great comedian should not be forgotten. I like Elvis, too. But don’t forget Groucho.
