Teenagers in Wauconda Township are invited to serve as jurors and attorneys in a teen court that hears cases of first-time, non-violent local juvenile offenders who have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor crimes.
The court is sponsored by the Northern Illinois Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, the Wauconda and Island Lake Police Departments, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.
Jurors can be 14 to 18 years old, but attorneys must be ages 16 to 18.
Applications, due Sept. 15, are available at the Wauconda and Island Lake Police Departments or the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.
