A frustrated Ryland Homes representative left this week’s meeting of the Algonquin Planning, Building and Zoning Committee without an answer about the second phase of Ryland’s Prestwicke Subdivision at the intersection of Algonquin and Square Barn Roads.
The committee decided to delay a vote on the matter after Ryland representative John Luczynski balked at a combined 50-building limit imposed by village officials for phases one and two.
Luczynski estimated that Ryland has already put $5 million into the project. He said it does not seem fair for the village to ask Ryland to spend more to make improvements to Square Barn Road this year but to allow them to build only 50 houses. Plans call for a total of 137 houses in the first two phases.
